WHY TRUMP GOT ELECTED

Trump & Seal

This was supposed to be my first Blog after returning to WordPress, but the shootings at a Parkland, FL high school was more important. Here is a link to that Blog. Let’s continue to work for reasonable gun control legislation and a ban on assault weapons.

Now, about President Trump. I’m going to try and be as brief as possible. During President Obama’s term, Republicans deliberately did everything they could to interfere with President Obama’s legislation and success (click this link). As a result, there was an escalation of political chaos and gridlock. There were more Republican filibusters than in the entire history of our government, the Republicans shut down the government twice, and got U.S. credit downgraded. The American people simply got fed up with government. Instead of blaming the Republicans who instigated this political chaotic mess, the blame was placed on the Democrats. This didn’t make sense because all indicators showed a significant improvement over the metrics that the Republicans handed Obama. Here is a video link  outlining President Obama’s accomplishments.

American voters, now fed up and blinded with rage, chose to abandon traditional politicians and try someone with no history of serving as a politician. They had to choose between Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton. Hillary lossed by default, she was a politician. She also shot herself in the foot a few times: 1. She stated she would get rid of coal jobs 2. Had an infamous “What difference does it make” Bengazi comment 3. she didn’t campaign in Pennsylvania, Michigan, and Wisconsin 4. She made poor decisions about emails. The voters ultimately chose Trump, but in doing so, ignored obvious warning signs: 1. He launched his campaign with racist remarks against Mexicans 2. He uses profanity in public 3. He makes insane statements like “he could shoot someone in Time Square and not lose votes” 4. “John McCain is a loser, he got caught” 5. He brags about sexual assaulting women with impunity. 6. He went bankrupt 4 times, one was a Casino. How do you bankrupt a Casino? Both Hillary and Trump were poor candidates for President because of their baggage, but in a case like that, people should always choose the lesser of the two evils. It should be obvious to most, that we chose wrong!!!! Donald Trump is President. Hillary was careless and that allowed Russia to exploit her. Trump entertained Russians secretly in the Oval Office. We only found out because Russia published it. Which is worse?

After just over a year of the Trump Presidency, it’s baffling why he has any support at all. Trump is spawning rapid fire chaos at a rate too numerous to count. Here are the high points: 1. His many lies can easily be highlighted with soundbites and video 2. Many of his handpicked staff who “are the best at what they do”, have no experience at what they are asked to do 3. Many appointees (34%) have been fired by Trump, are under criminal investigation, are wasting government money, or simply quit 4. Many leave because of Russian connections 5. Trump minimizes the importance of the intelligence community, Hispanic Judges, and the news media 6. Trump gives every country grief except Russia, and Russia hacked U.S. political and infrastructure systems.  Yet, Trump has not taken a definitive stand against these actions. My take on Trump and Russia involvement will follow in another Blog. 7.  He changes his mind sometimes hours after he makes a public statement (examples: “I’ll sign any bipartisan DACA legislation”. The next day he didn’t sign. Also, he led people to believe he wanted to raise the age to buy assault weapons. His official plan did not include a provision for this point). 8. Finally, he is named as a Defendant in a legal case that involves a pornography star.

I realize some of you will support Trump no matter what he does or says, but for those of you who are concerned about Trump’s inability to try and unite our country, please pay attention and do more searching for the truth on your own. Don’t rely on FOX, MSNBC, CNN, NBC, CBS, or ABC. There is unbiased information at Politifact, Factcheck.org, and (any Federal Government site).gov

In this 2016 Presidential election, I feel the need to say a few words of wisdom. Ok folks, let’s calm down and get it together. Just remember that our country guarantees the right to protest peacefully at political rallies, but interfering with that peaceful protest is illegal. Don’t spit on protesters or hit them in the face when they are not expecting it. Not so peaceful political rally. We are guaranteed the right to vote, but voting is much like drinking alcohol, if you are going to do it, it should be done responsibly. Don’t vote for a political party just because your great grandfather was a member of that party. If a party filibusters as often as a 2 year-old having a temper tantrum, or shuts down the government just because they don’t like proposed legislation, if they don’t try to help facilitate implementing and paying for a healthcare system that would save millions of lives, if they want to cut your nanna’s Medicare and Social Security, and if a party disrespects a sitting President for almost 8 years and ultimately saying he can’t exercise his constitutionally given right to nominate a Supreme Court Justice, then voting for that party is irresponsible and it’s not good for America. A party like that is in total chaos. A party like that probably doesn’t even like their own Presidential candidates.

There is another way of voting irresponsibly and it’s called not voting at all. The rationale is that all politicians are liars and thieves and I’m not going to waste my vote. That statement is about 90% fact (and I’m being generous). The irony is, by not voting, you did waste your vote. If you didn’t like some of the scenarios mentioned above, then you should vote for the opposition party. In other words, vote for the lesser of the two evils. I’ll make it simple for you. First vote for what you think is best for God. Because most of you don’t have a strong bond with the Big Guy anyway, this won’t influence the vote that much. Next vote for what’s best for America. You know, investing in jobs, new technology, clean air and water, Defense (within reason), and American manufacturing. Finally vote for what’s important to you. Do you need a job or just an increase in minimum wage? Do you need help with getting or paying for health insurance for your family? Do you need to make sure that when you get nanna’s age there will be enough money for your golden years? If you need any of those things, then vote for the party that will give you the best chance of achieving those goals. Good luck America, if you vote irresponsibly, we’re going to need it.

5 Year Old Republicans

Since Republicans seem to ignore facts, numbers, and reality, I’m going to explain to America the 5 main reasons Republicans are wrong for America. I will then give examples in terms a 5 year old … errrr … a Republican can understand. Don’t forget to click on the YouTube links.

  1. OBSTRUCTION- Even before President Obama took the oath of office, Republicans vowed to block any legislation the President would propose, and deliberately did so openly with premeditation and malice. Example- President Obama is driving a truck load of goods and services to Any Town, USA. Republicans see him coming and cause a rockslide that blocks the road. The goods and services don’t get to town. The Republicans go back to town and tell everyone it is Obama’s fault. That’s crazy, hateful, and racist.
  2. JOBS- Republicans promised that if they were elected in 2010, they would pass legislation to help provide jobs. Instead of jobs, they did a bait and switch and focused on social legislation. The Jobs Bill proposed by President Obama has not been brought to the floor for a vote in over a year. For almost two years, Republicans have voted to repeal Obamacare over 30 times. Example- Republicans offer everyone a popsicle but when you open the wrapper, there is nothing but the stick. That’s deceitful.
  3. ABORTION- Yes, Republicans want to repeal Roe v Wade. This is based on religious ideology. Our Constitution’s intent was to separate Church and State. The choice should be between a woman and her God. Republicans wanted women to have Ultrasounds by vaginal probes to shame them into changing their minds about getting an abortion. Republicans also want to get government out of your lives but instead, put it into your bodies. God doesn’t need the Republicans to administer justice or mess with the freewill he gave us. Like it or not, women are going to do what they think is best for them, and when abortion was illegal, many times the mother and the child died. Would you rather lose 2 lives? We can’t go back. Example- Prohibition. People are going to do things that are extremely important to them and it doesn’t matter what the law is. Sorry, this is too serious for a 5 year old. When Republicans mix religion with government, That’s Unconstitutional.
  4. THE ECONOMY– Republicans are focused like a laser on reducing the deficit and balancing the budget. They want to give the rich tax cuts they don’t need, continue to allow loopholes, increase the military budget, and begin budget cuts with Medicare, Medicaid, and Social Security using a hatchet and not a scalpel. The numbers just don’t add up. More importantly, people are hurting now, and a reduction in benefits and services will make things much worse. Passing the President’s Jobs Bill would help almost 2 million families, but that would help him get reelected, so Republicans chose to screw those families. Can you see how cold and heartless that is? Money should NEVER be more important than people. Budget cuts should begin in other departments and programs long before Medicare, Medicaid, or Social Security are impacted. Example- You must buy a cookie which represents a healthy economy. The cookie cost 10 cents. You only have 8 cents. You spend 2 cents on candy (the rich) and 2 cents on toys (the military). Now you have 4 cents, so you borrow money from your mom (Medicare, etc.), but she can only lend you 3 cents. You still don’t have enough to buy that cookie. That’s Math. Example 2- You dig a giant hole and it takes you 8 years to do it. You ask Obama to fill the hole in 100 days. That’s impossible. Later you hide his shovel and say he didn’t keep his promise. That’s stupid.
  5. MITT ROMNEY- Romney talks about creating jobs in America, but many of his businesses sent jobs overseas. Don’t forget, it was businessmen like Romney that collapsed the economy simply because of greed, and I get the sense that Romney is a greedy man. He said Obama made the economy worse. The stock market says otherwise. Romney and his rich pals have made millions since Obama took office, Unemployment is below 8%, and housing is beginning to recover. Romney was like a chameleon during the 3 Presidential debates. He said he wanted to help 100% of Americans, but earlier said he wasn’t going to waste his time with 47% of Americans (http://youtu.be/XnB0NZzl5HA). He wants all women to have access to contraceptives (http://youtu.be/i6RH70RppqI) , yet earlier stated he will stop funding to Planned Parenthood (http://youtu.be/OLM_nDczR2g). It was his idea to reorganize the auto industry under government bankruptcy during the debates, but wrote a paper before that and said many times to “Let Detroit go bankrupt”. During the final debate on Foreign Policy, Romney agreed with most of what the President is already doing. Before the debates he stated the President was doing a terrible job with Foreign Policy. Example- Romney has an apple for lunch and you have a hotdog. He wants to trade his apple for your hotdog. You agree but he gives you celery instead. That’s lying.

In summary, Republicans are acting like 5 year olds. They are sore losers and will do anything to not feel that way again. They don’t care how many millions of Americans they will hurt and are deliberately making Americans suffer unnecessarily. It’s all about getting President Obama out of office. None of the things they said would happen if he became president, actually did happen. You still have your guns, the country is not Socialist, the free market is alive and well, government shrunk and did not grow, no terrorist attacks on American soil, Bin Laden is dead, the economy is better than it was when Obama took office and the numbers are headed in the right direction. Obama did give us a health care plan that will save millions lives and billions of dollars, equal pay for women, reduced student loan interest rates, credit card reform, checks and balances to help prevent the greed in corporate America which wrecked the economy in the first place, and has a Jobs Bill waiting for a vote in the House of Representatives. He did all this and more despite the extreme obstruction Republicans practiced. He could have done much more if the Republicans were not having a temper tantrum. So you see, President Obama is not as bad as some people paint him, but shame on Republicans for not trying to work with him to make this country prosper. This President has earned a second term as President because he is focused like a laser on making the quality of your life better.

REMEMBER THIS? LET’S DO IT AGAIN!!!!

REPUBLICAN HUBRIS

Republicans, you don’t get to say that President Obama is a President whose policies didn’t work, he made the economy worse, and he is the worse President ever, when you conspired to, then literally blocked almost all of his legislative efforts. You did this deliberately and with malice simply to make the first black President of the United States fail, and you set this plan in motion even before he took office. This disrespect for the office of the Presidency is unprecedented and can only be classified as Racist. Your obstructing is hurting millions of Americans and you don’t seem to care about those people. To force the failure of an American President and thereby the American Government, and additionally harm the American people, is not only shameful, but it is treason.

Not only do Republicans refuse to tax the wealthy and huge corporations, but they also refuse to eliminate tax loopholes for things like jets. Yet, at the same time, they propose cutting benefits and services to the rest of America’s population. They promised jobs and won many offices in Congress and in States across the U.S. in 2010. Since 2010, they are blocking President Obama’s Jobs Bill, busting unions, legislating abortion and contraception, denying gay rights, and proposing transvaginal Ultrasounds. Some of the Republican proposals are clearly based on their religious ideology, which is a clear violation of our Constitutional law to have separation of church and state. Where is their jobs legislation? Where is their budget that is fair for most of Americans? I agree we need a balanced budget, but not on the backs of the poor and middle class. These people have sacrificed enough already. There are plenty of places to start trimming the budget without starting with the American people.  Here are some ideas, stop current wars, make the wealthy and large corporations pay their fair share, stop approving projects like bridges to nowhere, and set up a nonpartisan Enforcement Bureau to look for and eliminate fraud and abuse at every level in the Government and the private sector.

Republicans assume they are the only party that can heal the economy and create jobs, but they want to do it with “trickledown economics”, an old idea that has never worked. They are too arrogant to adopt an economic policy that worked under President Clinton’s Administration, and one that President Obama is trying to emulate. Here is a very important point that all American’s need to understand. We are operating under a Republican economy. During the debt crisis, President Obama and Mr. Boehner hammered out a budget compromise that was soundly rejected by the Republican House majority. Afterwards, Mr. Boehner stated that Republicans got 98% of what they wanted. From that point on, the performance of the economy is directly attributed to Republican policy and not President Obama. This current economy is 98% Republican and 2% President Obama. With this Republican win, make no mistake about it, this is a Republican economy, and our credit was downgraded and the recovery slowed. President Obama can’t be blamed if the Republicans got 98% of what they wanted. So what’s wrong with our current economy and why is it so sluggish? This Republican economy is not fair or balanced. It’s not fair in the sense that Corporations like GE can reduce their taxes to 0% and get a 3 billion dollar tax credit check from the government. Corporations and wealthy individuals should always have to pay something, at least 5%-20% and not 0%. Their tax credits should only reduce their income tax liability to established minimum levels to be determined, and not below 0%. It’s unbalanced because to truly have a balanced budget, you need budget cuts done with a scalpel and not a meat clever, sensible spending, and new revenues (everyone pays a fair share). Of course the new revenues are taxes and the Republicans signed a contract that said they will never raise taxes. Really, that’s like saying, “I’m never going to put any money from my paycheck into savings in case there is an unexpected financial crisis.” That kind of thinking is crazy. Budget cuts and reduction in spending only help prevent a debt increase but does nothing to reduce current debt. New revenue can help pay down the debt. This is simple math and Republicans get an F.

Finally, Republicans don’t get to say what’s wrong with the economy and what’s wrong with President Obama’s policies without offering solutions. I’d like to know how Republicans would have fixed the 2008 recession without a stimulus. I can’t imagine what they would have done instead. FDR’s stimulus worked during the great depression and President Obama’s stimulus prevented a depression. It would have worked better if it was larger, and that’s something the Republicans would not allow. What are the Republican plans to fix the economy? To date, they have given us no clues. Republicans need to clearly outline their plan to improve the current economy. Just saying that President Obama has failed, which was a recurrent theme at your 2012 Convention in Tampa, doesn’t help anyone to understand how you can do a better job. At least we know President Obama can stop an economic disaster from getting worse. Yes, the price of gas is rising and unemployment is above 8%. But before you blame President Obama for all our economic woes, remember he was facing a Republican Congress that was doing everything they could to make him fail, and yet, he has still done some remarkable things. He has passed health care reform (it’s only negative is the individual mandate which is much like making you have car insurance, and that didn’t make America crazy), lowered taxes on Americans making less than $250,000, got equal pay for women, got credit card reforms, initiated banking and finance reforms to help prevent greedy businessmen from gambling with the money of the American people, helped millions who are upside down on their mortgage, kept student loan interest rates low, got our troops out of Iraq, gave small business tax credit incentives, was tough at the U.S. border yet compassionate with illegals already in our country, got the stock market up over 12,000, helped job growth consistently increase for over 20+ months (-750,000 to 100,000+/month), gave dignity to the gay rights struggle, and eliminated Osama Bin Laden. There are many more things the Obama administration has accomplished, and most were very good for the American people. Just use Google to get a full list. During your search, you will also find sites that adversely criticize his accomplishments. When a site doesn’t give President Obama credit for anything he did, even the things that were good for the American people, you know that’s a site you cannot trust. Both parties use creative license with the truth, but the Republicans do far more obstructing, outright lying, and are malicious about their half-truths. These tactics have effectively brought Government to a grinding halt. An example of this is that since 2007, Republicans had over 360 filibusters in the Senate. That’s almost more than all previous years combined, and this rate dramatically increased after President Obama was elected. Don’t take my word for it. Here are some websites where you can find the facts and the truth:

1. Bureau of Labor Statistics at www.bis.gov

2. www.senate.gov

3. www.house.gov

4. www.factcheck.org

5. www.OpenCongress.org

6. The Congressional Budget Office at www.cbo.gov

Of course I would like for you to vote for President Obama, but what I really want is for you to do your homework and make an informed decision. Balancing the budget is very important, but not at the expense of making more people suffer. People should always come before money. Let the Republicans know that in November.
